“Time loops, portals, doorways to other realms”: Why Zack Snyder’s Take on Zombies in Army of the Dead Is the Freshest Breath of Air for the Genre

During the height of the pandemic, when we were all facing a dearth of content, Army of the Dead arrived just in time to entertain the audiences. Justice League director Zack Snyder was helming the Dave Bautista-led ensemble film. Although marketed as a zombie film, the movie didn’t follow the familiar formula of so many other popular zombie films or movies like Walking Dead or Zombieland. Snyder was on a mission to deconstruct the genre, and he did!

Army of the Dead follows a group of mercenaries who plan to pull a Los Angeles casino heist, overrun by zombies.

Zack Snyder shattered the stereotypical zombie survival film with Army of the Dead

Snyder introduced a heist tale in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. And he also added some sci-fi elements to it. The movie spawned a time loop theory. According to it the characters were stuck in a time loop and were doing the same mission again and again.

He turned the survival genre on its head and did something entirely new with it. That relegated the film to a genre-breaking status. He had previously stated that he wanted to create an unprecedented franchise where “the deconstruction of different genres is actually part of the way.”

Speculations about Planet of the Dead

Netflix confirmed a sequel for the hit movie in 2021. Snyder flirted with the idea of a time loop in the prequel, so for the next sequel, Planet of the Dead, chances are that he might play with the idea of zombie portals.

“I think the time loops, portals, doorways to other realms, things of that nature, are very much in play,” he had teased. If he does plan to introduce different realms in the next film, it might include aliens too. But considering how Zack Snyder loves subverting expectations, these aliens could act as the savior of humankind. Anime series, Army of the Dead: Los Vegas is also said to arrive later this year.

From a Herd of Fighters to Future-Oriented Individuals, Fans Predict the Destiny for ‘Cobra Kai’ Characters

When the karate universe introduced us to the kids from the movie, we could predict Daniel LaRusso to be an entrepreneur. He started his business first business with his sensei Mr. Miyagi while training as well. But these Cobra Kai kids live in a different era. They have a vast field to explore for their careers.

Throughout the series, we have seen that each of these kids has a unique quality. They have skills other than greater fighting techniques. The fans of the show have observed these characters. They have thought about the future of the Cobra Kai kids after the final All-Valley Tournament. Fans have made their theories based on their observations of the skills of the characters.

From Karate to career: the Cobra Kai kids’ future prediction

Everyone has to do something for their survival. In today’s world, if you have the needed skills, you can survive easily. And if you turn your passion into a career, you will never fail at it. “Man, who works for passion, is always richer than who works for money,” said Daniel LaRusso. These kids from Cobra Kai have creative skills and unexplored passion, which would provide them with some amazing career opportunities. Fans on Reddit have created their theories for these individuals as to what they would do in the future.

This theory of this user seems very well observed. At the beginning of the series, we saw Hawk, aka Eli, had created a model for his school presentation. Because Demetri has always been a nerd, he might use his extensive knowledge and get a high-paid job. Tory has her own family issues which might restrict her to go to college. She might become a sensei as she’s won the trophy as we saw at the end of season 4.

While Sam has always been a sensitive and psychologically abused person, she might become a psychiatrist. And these two arch enemies, Miguel and Robby, have always been a little different from the rest of the characters. The prediction is that Robby might join Tory and become a sensei as he trained Kenny. And Miguel might become a business person like Daniel. However, others have a few different opinions than this.

More predictions by the fans

Everyone has their own understanding, and they have slightly different opinions than the previous ones. Some might agree with the theory. Let us have a look at what others have to say.

Whatever the predictions are, we will have to wait for season 5 to stream and witness the unpredicted events. While we’re waiting for the 9th of September, share your predictions about these kids with us.

How 1993 Sitcom Is a Point Of Inspiration For Shows Like ‘Friends’ and ‘Partner Track’

#Sitcom #Point #Inspiration #Shows #Friends #Partner #Track

Sitcoms, since time immemorial, have been the remote representation of our real lives on screen. That is why these shows seem to bind us together, weaving the life stories of the common person that we reckon with. Over time, the tools have changed, but the logistics have remained the same. Great American sitcoms like Friends, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Young Sheldon, and recent pieces like Partner Track and many more are the perfect examples of how a sitcom could become a lot more than a mere TV show. But these are just the surface of it.

The actual potential sitcoms that modern-day shows derive their inspiration from have become archaic and antiquated. So let’s take a moment to reminisce about the age-old sitcoms that have laid the basic foundation for what we binge-watch today. One such sitcom is the late 90s’ Living single, whose synopsis and plot lines run parallel with Friends and modern-day shows like Partner Track.

Friends and Partner Track are just the gentrified versions of Living Single

Six young adults coexist together, mending their lives out through the struggles they face in settling down in the world’s greatest city. Sounds familiar? Well, the 1993 American sitcom Living Single is all about it. Following its lead came the best of all, Friends, which had somewhat of the same storyline.

Both the shows bear uncanny resemblances for which viewers call Friends a revamped version of Living Single. The same goes with the recent legal drama show, Partner Track, which revolves around a young Asian-American woman who works her way out to make a mark in one of the top law firms in New York City. Although the six-member element is missing here, the storyline is mostly the same.

Hence the fact that Living Single acts as a source of inspiration for many sitcoms for the latest generation holds very true. In fact, in an interview, Queen Latifah on Andy Cohen talked about how Friends was originally derived from this legendary black show. According to her, the executives of NBC ripped off Friends for the former, which laid a kind of template for most other series that followed or are yet to come.
