23 Celebs That Decided To Reinvent Themselves...And It Either Went Off Without A Hitch Or Crashed And Burned

#Celebs #Decided #Reinvent #ThemselvesAnd #Hitch #Crashed #Burned

When celebs are in the spotlight for a long time, it’s only natural that they’re going to change during the process. And sometimes, they may want to completely switch up their careers.

But…it doesn’t always go so well. Here are 10 times stars tried — and completely failed — to reinvent themselves, and 13 times stars nailed a career shift.

1.

FAILED REINVENTION: Garth Brooks is one of the strangest examples. In 1999, Brooks, then a successful country artist, decided to launch an alter ego — Chris Gaines — in preparation for a planned movie about the murder of Gaines to be called The Lamb.

The fictional Gaines was a rock artist, and Garth, as Gaines, appeared as a musical guest on SNL and in a mockumentary for Behind the Music. Garth also released an album as Gaines ahead of The Lamb film titled, Garth Brooks in…the Life of Chris Gaines. People were pretty confused about the whole thing, and when the album didn’t sell as well as expected, The Lamb was dropped entirely.

2.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: In contrast, Taylor Swift is a great example of a musician who has done not one, but two successful genre jumps. Her first four albums were country, but she pivoted genres to synth-pop with 1989, her fifth album.

Her next two albums were also pop (albeit with influences from other genres like R&B and rock)…but then she pivoted genres yet again with partner albums Folklore and Evermore, which were both indie-folk albums (still with pop and rock influences).

3.

FAILED REINVENTION: However, Swift’s forays into acting have not gone as well. Her first role was a brief spot on CSI, and she went on to appear in Valentine’s Day, The Lorax, and Cats, none of which were well received.

4.

FAILED REINVENTION: Paris Hilton became a media fixture in the 2000s, mostly for being a wealthy socialite, though she also did some modeling and then became a reality star with The Simple Life.

She launched a number of successful business ventures, most notably her perfume line, but in 2006 decided to try something new: singing. She released her first album, Paris, in August of that year. Her single “Love Is Blind” actually was very successful, and hit 18 on the Billboard Top 100.

However, reception to the album was overall mixed, and it was the only one Paris ever released (though she did release a few more singles). More recently, she’s tried her hand on DJing, even DJing at Tomorrowland and Summerfest. While she’s found plenty of success and earns $1million per set, she’s also found a lot of critics.

5.

FAILED REINVENTION: In addition, Hilton also tried her hand at an acting career, booking guest spots on a number of shows like The O.C. and Supernatural, and most notably starring in House of Wax. She won a Razzie for her performance, and has not appeared in another acting role (though she has appeared in documentaries and as a TV hosts and reality star) since 2010.

6.

FAILED REINVENTION: Kim Kardashian, then a successful socialite and reality star, also tried out a singing career in 2011, releasing “Jam (Turn It Up).”

Kardashian later said she regretted recording the song. “But if there’s one thing in life that I wish I didn’t do … I don’t like it when people kind of dabble into things they shouldn’t be. And that I don’t think I should have. Like, what gave me the right to think I could be a singer? Like, I don’t have a good voice,” she said in 2014.

7.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: Back in the late ’90s, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was known primarily for being a pro wrestler. But starting in 1999, he began appearing in small roles in addition to wrestling (which he retired from in 2004, though he did later return).

His first major project was The Mummy Returns in 2001, and from there he continued to pick up roles in a number of high-profile projects, working his way onto the A-list with involvement in the Fast & Furious, Jumanji, and DCEU franchises, as well as Disney film Moana. He was the highest-paid actor, according to Forbes, in 2022.

8.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: John Cena has followed essentially the same path, albeit in a less family-friendly way. He came onto the movie scene with 2006’s The Marine, but it wasn’t until his role in Trainwreck that people really started to see him as an actor.

After that, he became involved in more high-profile projects, like The Suicide Squad and a spinoff series on HBO based on his character Peacemaker.

9.

FAILED REINVENTION: A third wrestler who was not quite as successful in his career switch was Hulk Hogan. He attempted to start a movie career in the ’80s with a bit role in Rocky III, and appeared in a few other TV movies and sequels, like a cameo Gremlins 2, as well as TV shows like Thunder in Paradise, which only ran for a season. None of Hogan’s lead movie roles were well reviewed.

FAILED REINVENTION: In 1995, while he was the World Heavyweight Champion, Hogan also released an album, Hulk Rules, as a part of the band Hulk Hogan and the Wrestling Boot Band. The album was panned, and the band did not release another album. However, the album has become a bit of a cult hit due to its “so bad it’s good” status.

10.

FAILED REINVENTION: Another athlete-turned-actor is Shaq. He’s primarily known as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but he’s also made forays into a number of other ventures.

Starting in the ’90s, he began starring in films, namely Kazaam and Steel. Both were critically panned, and he has been nominated for three Razzie awards. Despite this, he continues to appear in the occasional film or TV role, usually as himself or in a cameo capacity.

11.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: However, Shaq did find success as a rap artist. He rapped on one of Michael Jackson’s albums, and he released four albums himself, one of which featured Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G. He hasn’t released an album in over two decades, but has begun DJing.

12.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: Mark Wahlberg started out his career in the early ’90s with hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, which had a number of hit songs and found fame.

He then made his film debut in 1994’s Renaissance Man, and became an acclaimed actor in 1997 with Boogie Nights. He’s even been nominated for a couple Oscars for his roles in The Departed (alongside massively acclaimed legacy actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Martin Sheen) and The Fighter.

13.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: Lady Gaga made a similar switch. After spending years as a successful pop artist, she decided to try her hand at acting in the mid-2010s.

She started with American Horror Story, which won her a Golden Globe, and then made her feature film debut in A Star Is Born, for which she transformed into a down-on-her-luck aspiring singer. She was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal, and did win an Oscar for her work on “Shallow” for the film.

She went on to star in House of Gucci, and has numerous other roles in the works.

14.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: One star who made the opposite switch — from movie star to music star — is Taylor Momsen. Momsen’s first large role was as Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and she went on to appear in other family films like Spy Kids 2.

And in 2007, she began starring as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl. She was a main character for three seasons, but only appeared for a few episodes of the fourth season. She ended up leaving the show after Season 4.

This was largely because of her foray into music. She formed her band the Pretty Reckless in 2009, and they released their first album in 2010. They’ve since released four albums and toured with the Veronicas, Evanescence, Fall Out Boy, and Marilyn Manson, as well as had their music appear in films and television.

15.

FAILED REINVENTION: Another actor who tried to break into singing from the acting industry was Robert Downey Jr. Downey Jr. was a successful actor when in 2004, he decided to release his debut album, Futurist.

The album wasn’t a complete flop, but it had a mixed critical reception and would end up being Downey Jr.’s only test drive into music. He was already at the beginning of a movie career resurgence, and would famously go on to portray Tony Stark in the MCU.

16.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: If we’re talking about actors-turned singers, we really can’t ignore Drake. He starred for years on the teen series Degrassi: The Next Generation, and was known as Aubrey Graham.

In 2006, while he was still on Degrassi, he released his first mixtapes. He made two more in the late 2000s before dropping his first full album in 2010, skyrocketing him into much larger fame than before. He’s since won four Grammy Awards, and has been nominated dozens of times.

17.

FAILED REINVENTION: Cindy Crawford skyrocketed into global fame in the 1980s, quickly becoming one of a handful of supermodels dominating the fashion world in the ’90s. However, in the mid-’90s, she decided to try something new.

Crawford starred in her first film in 1995, a thriller called Fair Game co-starring William Baldwin. The film was panned, with reviewers commenting in particular on Crawford’s performance — one wrote, “One could scavenge the thesaurus to find synonyms for ‘awkward’ to describe Crawford’s performance,” and another wrote, “Crawford would be advised to keep her day job.”

She appeared in a few one-off TV roles up until the early 2000s, but her movie career was pretty much over. Besides musi videos, a 2009 appearance on Wizards of Waverly Place, and a couple appearances as herself, she has not acted since.

18.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: Model Diane Kruger, in contrast, made a far more successful switch from modeling to acting. In the 1990s, she booked ads and runway shows for a number of high-end designers like Armani, Dior, and Burberry, and also appeared on the cover of magazines like Vogue Paris.

However, in the early 2000s, she transitioned to a film career, nabbing large roles in Troy and National Treasure. However, probably her most famous role to date is in Inglourious Basterds, for which she received critical acclaim.

19.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: Jane Fonda started her career as an actor back in 1960 in the play There Was a Little Girl, for which she was nominated for a Tony. She continued acting for over two decades, winning two Oscars and an Emmy.

However, in 1982, she made the unexpected career pivot toward exercise videos, finding massive success with her 22 workout VHS tapes.

She even successfully pivoted back into acting in the mid-2000s, and just finished starring on Grace and Frankie (for which she was nominated for an Emmy).

20.

FAILED REINVENTION: Influencer Addison Rae recently tried her hand at a singing career. Known primarily for her TikTok dances, Rae decided to release a single, “Obsessed,” in 2021. She went on to perform it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The song — and performance on Fallon — were panned, and Rae has been keeping pretty mum on the upcoming album she previously teased.

She also made her film debut with 2021 rom-com He’s All That. While the film was panned, Addison has since signed a deal with Netflix, so it’s unlikely her budding acting career is going away anytime soon. That being said, we’ll hold out our “failed vs. successful” reinvention judgment for now.

21.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: Bo Burnham stared out his career making comedic YouTube videos as a teenager in the mid- to late 2000s. By 2010, he was doing standup comedy and had filmed his first comedy special.

Burnham continued to find high-profile success as a comedian with more taped specials — but also decided to try something entirely new when he wrote and directed the critically acclaimed indie Eighth Grade, which came out in 2018.

He also began a movie career with his first dramatic role in the Oscar-nominated film Promising Young Woman in 2020.

22.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: Olivia Wilde has been a successful actor since the 2000s, but in the early 2010s, she tried her hand at a different art form: directing. Starting out, she only directed a few music videos and shorts.

And then in 2019, Wilde made a name for herself as a director with Booksmart, which was a critical and commercial success. She’s also directed the upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling, which is highly anticipated, though it’s been mired in controversy.

23.

SUCCESSFUL REINVENTION: And finally, Jordan Peele is one of the strongest examples of a successful career pivot. He began a strong career in sketch comedy in the 2000s, starring on Mad TV and then co-creating and starring in Key & Peele in the 2010s.

Like Burnham, Peele decided to try his hand at directing in the mid-2010s — but in a different genre entirely. His directorial debut, Get Out, was critically acclaimed and became one of the most famous modern horror films. It jump-started Peele’s horror directing career, and he’s gone on to direct two more films and produce a few films as well.

Here Are All The Easter Eggs And Complex Theories Taylor Swift Has Sparked Thanks To A Series Of Hidden Details In Her New Album Announcement

#Easter #Eggs #Complex #Theories #Taylor #Swift #Sparked #Series #Hidden #Details #Album #Announcement

On Sunday, Taylor Swift caused a bit of a frenzy when she announced that her 10th studio album, Midnights, will be released on Oct. 21.

The singer dropped the bombshell during her “Video of the Year” acceptance speech at MTV’s Video Music Awards after she won the accolade for “All Too Well: The Short Film.”

“I had sort of made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand-new album comes out Oct. 21,” she told the excited crowd at the time.

More information about the upcoming record came via social media, with Taylor sharing the album artwork alongside a written statement about what fans should expect.

“We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t — right this minute — about to make some fateful life-altering mistake,” she wrote.

“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face,” Taylor went on. “For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.”

“The stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life,” she added in the post’s caption.

Now, if there is one thing that Taylor is known for outside of her singing, it’s her dedication to leaving hidden clues and Easter eggs about her upcoming projects for her fans to discover.

Hardcore Swifties often curate incredibly plausible theories from the secret hints that Taylor has buried in her social media activity and various interviews, with many eventually proving to be true.

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last year, Taylor said of her love of Easter eggs: “It’s sort of a tradition that we started a very long time ago. I think the first time that I started dropping sort of cryptic clues in my music was when I was 14 or 15, putting together my first album.”

She admitted that she sometimes plans her clues up to three years in advance, and told Entertainment Weekly that she always gets excited by her fans’ theories. She explained: “I’ve trained them to be that way. I love that they like the cryptic hint-dropping. Because as long as they like it, I’ll keep doing it. It’s fun. It feels mischievous and playful.”

So needless to say, as soon as Swifties had finished screaming, crying, and throwing up over the Midnights announcement, they got to work — and here we have laid out some of the most compelling theories and interesting observations that they have curated around the upcoming album.

First things first, it wasn’t lost on many people that Taylor made her big announcement at the VMAs, where Kanye West famously crashed the stage and interrupted her acceptance speech for the Best Female Video Award in 2009.

Taylor was just 19 years old at the time, and later admitted to feeling humiliated as Kanye shouted that Beyoncé was more deserving of the win. The moment ended up triggering a long-running and messy feud between Taylor and the rapper.

As a result, many have claimed that her decision to reveal Midnights to the world on the VMAs stage was a conscious one on Taylor’s end, especially as 13 is her lucky number, which is exactly how many years have passed since the ’09 incident.

“Fully believe that nothing this woman does is an accident,” one person wrote on a Reddit forum on Monday. “In 2009, the show was stolen from her, last night she stole the show back.”

Adding fuel to the theory, others noted that Taylor’s VMAs dress was eerily reminiscent of an outfit she wore in her 2017 “Look What You Made Me Do” music video, which was already a homage to her 2009 VMAs gown.

In case you’re new here, “Look What You Made Me Do” was a direct response to the 2016 beef between Taylor and Kanye, after Kanye and his then-wife, Kim Kardashian, leaked a phone conversation with Taylor amid the fallout of his controversial song “Famous” and its accompanying music video.

“THE MOST OBVIOUS EASTER EGG EVER,” one fan tweeted alongside a screenshot of Taylor wearing the dress in her music video and a photo of the singer on the red carpet on Sunday night. Another person compared a photo of Taylor accepting her VMA in 2009 to her 2022 win and wrote: “13 years later… This is Taylor Swift’s revenge dress.”

Rounding up the Kimye drama, it was also noted that Midnights will be released on Kim’s 42nd birthday, and while it’s not known if this is intentional, fans are still living for the drama.

“The fact that Taylor Swift is releasing Midnights on Kim Kardashian’s birthday..can I be this dramatic,” one person wrote. Someone else tweeted: “Taylor wearing a similar dress to the vmas like she did 2009 and announcing a new album coming out on Kim’s birthday will forever be hilarious to me.”

After they’d fully analyzed Taylor’s activity that night, fans started to look retrospectively to see if there were any hints that Midnights was coming that they had missed.

And, with Taylor being Taylor, of course there were — including a direct reference to her upcoming album’s title back in May.

If you didn’t know, Taylor is currently in the process of rerecording her first six albums so that she can own all of her music. The move came after her old label, Big Machine Records, sold the masters of her original recordings to her nemesis, Scooter Braun.

Taylor vowed to rerecord all of the songs that she released with them to devalue the originals and prevent Scooter from profiting, and also so that she can legally own them.

Sharing a snippet of her rerecorded version of “This Love,” Taylor wrote on social media on May 5: “Thank you @jennyhan for debuting my version of This Love in the trailer for @thesummeriturnedpretty!! I’ve always been so proud of this song and I’m very 🥺🥺🥺 about this turn of events – This Love (Taylor’s Version) comes out tonight at m i d n i g h t!”

At the time, many thought that this was a sign that she was going to release her new version of her 2014 album, 1989. In addition to this being the record that “This Love” originally appeared on, the spaces between the letters in “midnight” made some think of her 1989 single “Blank Space.”

“She literally teased the album and we were looking at the blank spaces,” one fan tweeted. Another wrote: “M i d n i g h t … we had it in front of us since May 5th.”

And true to Taylor’s revelation that she plans some Easter eggs years in advance, other eagle-eyed Swifties noted that in 2020 she created a Spotify playlist for her album Folklore that was called “The sleepless nights chapter,” a direct reference to the theme of her upcoming album.

Twitter: @TheSwiftSociety

As for what listeners can expect from Midnights, there is growing speculation that this is actually the sister album of Lover, which was released in 2019.

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest after the album was released, Taylor revealed that she very nearly called Lover “Daylight,” which is the name of the final song on the album.

Explaining why she ended up changing her mind, Taylor said: “I felt like that was a little too on the nose because Reputation was such a dark, like evening-nighttime-city album, and I thought that calling the next album Daylight would be too obvious and it’s such a love album.”

Even more tellingly, “Daylight” — and thus the album — ends with a voice recording of Taylor saying: “I wanna be defined by the things that I love. Not the things I hate. Not the things that I’m afraid of, I’m afraid of. Not the things that haunt me in the middle of the night. I just think that you are what you love.”

Drawing attention to both facts in a TikTok video, one fan theorized: “Thinking about how Swifties totally forgot about that random theory that Lover had a Side B, which was going to be ‘blue,’ and how Taylor said she plans things three years in advance sometimes, and how she ends ‘Daylight’ with ‘the things that haunt me in the middle of the night’ and now we get Midnights, which is literally an album about the things that haunt her in the middle of the night, three years after Lover (which was originally going to be named Daylight) came out.”

The theory gained even more traction in the video’s comments, with one fan pointing out that Midnights’ artwork looks much more like the back of a traditional album, as it includes the tracklist.

Another person referenced the two albums she released between Lover and Midnights, which she wrote during the COVID-19 pandemic. They said: “We really forget folklore and evermore weren’t planned but just a product of the pandemic,, midnights may have been planned for ages.”

One fan even shared their hope that Midnights will begin where “Daylight” left off in Taylor’s voice recording, commenting: “‘Daylight’ ends with the voicemail type outro imagine if track 1 picks up where it left off omg.”

Someone else echoed: “Watch the first track be part two of ‘daylight,’” to which the original poster replied: “I gotta listen to ‘daylight’ and then the first track of Midnights when it comes out fr.. i rlly feel like the audio clip is a [segue].”

And even though the titles of Midnights’ songs have yet to be revealed, simply listed on the album artwork as tracks 1-13 across sides A and B, the fans still have some theories about them.

One claimed that the written statement Taylor shared alongside her album artwork on social media was key, with the statement divided into two distinct paragraphs. In a TikTok video, the fan claimed that each paragraph represented each side of the album, and the song titles were hidden within them.

“For example, they could be ‘We Lie Awake,’ ‘In Love’ … so on and so forth,” they said. “I don’t think she just wrote this to announce it.”

And the theory was incredibly well-received, with one viewer pointing out: “If you look at the way the phrases are broken up, there’s 13 of them.”

Someone else wrote: “I’m so glad I’m not the only one who read that and was like these words are way too specific to not mean something😹”

Others picked up on the fact that Taylor’s artwork on Spotify had been replaced with an animation of a ticking clock after Midnights was announced — with the clock’s numbers a variety of different colors.

omg!!!! check your spotify swiftie sisters!!!! the midnight clock is there!!!! taylor swift your mind!!!!

Twitter: @carelesslane

One social media user pointed out that the colors had to mean something, theorizing that each one correlated to the period in time that its corresponding track was about — especially as the colors match some of the themes seen in Taylor’s past album artwork.

“She said that the songs were written at different times in her life,” the Swiftie tweeted. “Each color represents an era. green for debut, blue for 1989, red for red, yellow for fearless. Corresponding numbers are songs written from specific era, track 1 & 2 from 1989 era.”

my dumb theory:

she said that the songs were written at different times in her life

each color represents an era. green for debut, blue for 1989, red for red, yellow for fearless.

corresponding numbers are songs written from specific era, track 1 & 2 from 1989 era

Twitter: @lawsofnatchure

Finally, a fan pieced together all of the above information and unlocked a fear that there is enough evidence to suggest that Midnights will be Taylor’s final album — at least for a while — as they admitted that they were “absolutely petrified” in a TikTok.

In the video, they wrote: “Midnight is like the ending of a day. It was 13 tracks about nights ‘scattered throughout my life,’ she announces it at the vmas, 13 YEARS after the 2009 VMAs incident wearing a dress reminiscent of the LWYMMD video but appearing in public with confidence and joy and pride.”

“It just feels like she’s cleanly wrapping everything up,” they went on. “Like a closing ceremony of all the ups and downs of her career. I cannot mentally cope with the concept of Taylor Swift not having an active career.”

While the video has racked up over 90,000 likes, many shut down the theory in the comment section. One referenced Taylor’s lucky number as they wrote: “There’s absolutely no way we aren’t getting at least 13 albums.”

Someone else said: “She released 2 albums in quarantine b/c she was bored, releasing TS10 while doing the rerecords just for the hell of it. She ain’t goin anywhere.”

Someone else referenced Taylor’s Netflix documentary as they claimed: “In Miss Americana there was a whole rant about how women in music are abandoned past 30. She’s gonna cling on til 109 out of spite 💀”

And I think I speak for all of us when I say that this is one theory that we definitely hope to be true.

William Zabka has been a beloved 80s icon since his debut film role as Johnny Lawrence in the popular film The Karate Kid in 1984. Since his breakout as the rival in the cult classic movie, he’s reprised the role both in the sequel and the Cobra Kai TV series. Not only that, he’s also gone on to star in a wide variety of popular shows and movies, as well as dabbling in the director’s chair himself.

Despite being a popular actor, William, 56, has mostly kept his personal life private. Even though he often doesn’t divulge many details, he has been married to his wife Stacie for over a decade, and the pair seem to have a happy family. Find out more about William and Stacie’s relationship here!

William and Stacie got married in 2008

While it’s unclear when William and Stacie first got together, their wedding was held in 2008, nearly 25 years after the first Karate Kid movie hit theaters! Given how private the couple keep their relationship, it’s no surprise that they had an intimate ceremony and didn’t release many details about where or when exactly it was held, according to Fansided

They have two kids

Even though William and Stacie keep their personal life and professional lives separate, the Cobra Kai star has opened up about parenting his two sons. William described himself as a “camp counselor-type guy” in a January 2021 interview with People. “One thing I’ve learned about having the responsibility of being a father is that you think it’s going to take your time, but it feeds you,” he said.

While they keep their two kids private, William has occasionally posted about bonding with his kids on social media, like when he posted an adorable photo of him holding his sons for Father’s Day in 2015. He shared some shots of him and one of his boys surfing together on Instagram back in August 2018.

Stacie has accompanied William to a number of events

Even though they mostly keep their work and life separated, it’s clear that Stacie is super supportive of her husband! She’s been seen as his date at a bunch of red carpet events over the years, posing for photos with him at events such as the Tribeca Film Fest and the 2010 premiere of the Karate Kid reboot, per Legit

Who else has William dated?

As William has kept his personal life out of the spotlight, it should come as no surprise that he’s been pretty quiet on past relationships also, but there have been rumors that he was linked to his Karate Kid co-star Elisabeth Shue, likely due to their onscreen chemistry. Despite the rumors, the pair have never confirmed if they were ever romantically involved, per HeavyWhile nothing on the dating front, William has said that the two have kept in touch a bit, and he revealed that when she did return to the series in Cobra Kai, he said that they got along great in a January 2021 USA Today interview. “In between doing these scenes we’re talking about our real lives and our real kids,” he said.

Even though they haven’t spoken about whether or not they ever dated, William and Elisabeth have weighed in on the connection between Johnny and Ali Mills, after her appearance in Season 3. “They were great friends, and that’ll be there forever,” he told USA Today. Similarly, Elisabeth revealed that it was nice to get to act alongside her former co-star. “In [Cobra Kai], we talked and communicated and acted together, and I loved that. So that was really surprising and wonderful to almost start a new relationship really,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

While William reflected on how their relationship has changed, Elisabeth revealed she would’ve liked to see their characters get more romantic, although she’s glad Johnny stayed true to Carmen. “I would have been up for a kiss. Are you kidding me? I’m bummed!” she quipped to EW. “I think it was in deference to wanting Johnny to feel that he could go back to his relationship [with Carmen], which meant so much to him, without feeling that he had anything to feel conflicted about. I’m sure that was the reason”

The couple fiercely guarded their privacy after first being seen together in public back in January 2018 in Aspen, Colo. They made their public debut at the 2020 Oscars, where they sat together in the front row.

Back in July 2019, a source told People that the two seemed “pretty serious,” adding, “It’s definitely not a casual relationship. Camila spends a lot of time at his house. Camila is long known as Leo’s girlfriend. And Leo introduced her to both of his parents long ago.”

“There’s so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps,” Morrone said. “I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”

She also told the outlet that it was “frustrating” to be known only as DiCaprio’s girlfriend while working on her own acting career. “I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating,” she said. “I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.”
