Will Smith has opened up about the ongoing controversy surrounding his assault of Chris Rock at this year’s Academy Awards, offering up his most unvarnished thoughts about an altercation that has marred his public image.

In an emotional YouTube post, Smith addressed why he didn’t apologise to Rock in his acceptance speech at the Oscars that night, where he accepted a best actor prize for his work in King Richard shortly after he charged the stage and slapped the comic for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith‘s buzz cut.

“It’s all fuzzy,” Smith says in the five-minute clip. “I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out.”

Smith once again reiterated that he was sorry for his actions, calling his behavior “unacceptable.”

The actor has said he responded violently because Rock’s joke referenced the hair loss that Pinkett Smith suffers because of her alopecia. It’s a struggle that Pinkett Smith has publicly addressed in the past.

“There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment,” Smith, who sighs deeply at points and seems to be fighting back tears, says in the video.

“There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults.”

Smith also addressed questions about whether or not Pinkett Smith, who was seen on camera rolling her eyes at Rock’s joke comparing her buzzcut to the one Demi Moore sports in G.I. Jane, had urged him to charge the stage.

The actor said his wife said nothing to spur him to assault Rock.

“It’s like, you know, I made a choice on my own, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris,” Smith says.

“Jada had nothing to do with it. I’m sorry, babe. I want to say sorry to my kids and my family for the heat that I brought on all of us.”

There had been speculation that Smith would open up about the fallout surrounding the Rock slap in a sit-down interview with a high-profile journalist like Oprah Winfrey, but instead the actor has opted to use social media to directly address his fans.

In the wake of the slap, Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the group behind the Oscars and offered up statements of contrition, but has otherwise maintained a low profile.

Rock recently broke his silence during a standup show in New Jersey, on July 24.

“Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face,” Rock joked, according to US Weekly.

He went on to say he wasn’t a “victim,” joking, “Yeah, that sh-t hurt, motherf-ker. But I shook that sh-t off and went to work the next day … I don’t go to the hospital for a papercut.”

On Oscar night, Smith assaulted Rock moments before the award for best documentary was about to be presented to Summer of Soul director Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson. The shocked response to the incident overshadowed Thompson’s time at the podium.

“To all my fellow nominees, you know, this is a community, it’s like I won because you voted for me,” Smith says in the video.

“And it really breaks my heart to have stolen and tarnished your moment. I can still see Questlove’s eyes. You know, it happened on Questlove’s award. And, you know, it’s like, I’m sorry really isn’t sufficient.”

Smith ultimately closed the video with a pledge to learn from his mistakes.

“I know it was confusing, I know it was shocking,” he says.

“But I promise you, I am deeply devoted and committed to putting light and love and joy into the world. And, you know, if you hang on, I promise we’ll be able to be friends again.”

“Your Song” singer Rita Ora, 32, looked smoking hot on the red carpet at the British Fashion Awards on Dec. 5, and turned heads in a transparent red dress. The bombshell wore a gown by the designer Nensi Dojaka, and paired the look with a red bra and matching thong. In addition, Rita completed her look with facial prosthetics that gave her a futuristic look, along with open-toe red heels and a heart-shaped bra underwire.

The 32-year-old also made sure to turn around when she walked the red carpet to show off her bare backside, high-slit, and her many tattoos. Many of Rita’s fans took to Twitter to react on this stunning look. “In this weather as well!!! I respect the sacrifice for the fashion,” one admirer wrote, while another added, “I love bleached eyebrows.” However, there were still some members of her fanbase that were not sure how to feel about her siren-red look. “Honestly it’s camp in a bad way and a good way,” a third user penned, while another added, “i’m trying to like it i really am.”

Rita’s see-through gown comes just a few days after she appeared on Louis Theroux‘s podcast, Louis Theroux Interviews on Dec. 1. During this interview, the beauty told Louis whether or not she was “Becky” from Beyonce‘s famous Lemonade album. “I didn’t even think about it, I swear. And it wasn’t a J, it was an R. They flipped it ’round and then it looked like a J,” she said in reference to a 2016 initial necklace that was spotted in a 2016 snapchat. This necklace sparked rumors about who the woman was in the hit song “Sorry” by the 41-year-old.

“No, it had nothing [to do with it],” she said, via PEOPLE.  “No, that was my own design with an underwear company called Tezenis that I was working with,” Rita further explained. “This is what I mean, man. A pinch of salt. You’ve got to take things with a pinch of salt. And that’s what’s insane. I had to just sit through that until a good friend of mine, Katy Perry, gave me a hilarious badge that said ‘not Becky’.”

Of course, the gorgeous cherry-red dress was not the only jaw-dropping look Rita gave this week. She also took to Instagram and TikTok to share her silky blue backless dress from Dec. 4. “Thank you so much @britishvogue and forces for change for having me tonight on such an important night,” she captioned the carousel of photos. One of her celebrity pals included in the snapshots was Avatar star Zoë Saldaña, 44, who stunned in a black pantsuit.

Rita also created a TikTok video that included audio of Kylie Jenner, 25, from the latest episode of The Kardashians. “I’m still a mom, but these are the years I’m supposed to be naked,” the makeup maven’s voice chimed through Rita’s video of her blue dress. “With my t*****s out, a** out, f*** yeah.” The frequent Calvin Harris collaborator captioned the sexy clip, “Not a mum yet but I totally relate.”
