The Book of Jose is a rags-to-riches story following Fat Joe’s evolution from growing up in the drug and violence-scarred streets of the Bronx to becoming a Grammy-nominee, producer, and actor with a career spanning nearly three decades. The project will follow every phase of Joe’s life and the threats that have come in the form of rivals, addiction, incarceration, and death. All of which showed the artist that resilience and the love of his family are the only paths to success.

The Book of Jose comes from Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society in collaboration with Cinema Giants, Buffalo Kid Films, and Artists First. It will be produced through Khalabo Ink Society’s overall deal with BET Studios, where Barris is also a principal partner.

Also serving as executive producers alongside Cartagena, Barris, and Reyes is E. Brian Dobbins, and pilot director Jessy Terrero. Luis F. Velasco and Ulysses Terrero will produce and Ashley Acevedo will AP.

Cartagena is repped by APA, Universal Attractions, and Digital Launch. Barris is repped by CAA and Artists First.  Reyes is repped by CAA, Zero Gravity Management, and Jackoway, Austen, et al.

Normani wants to set the record straight when it comes to her motivation.

The Fifth Harmony alum alluded to some recent challenges in her life while clapping back on claims that her dedication to her music career has been put on the back burner.

“No idea where Normani’s motivation (no pun intended) has gone but I just dont see the same passion from her as I used to,” one Twitter user wrote in a since-deleted message, per Billboard. “Before yall start, its not depression so dont even go THERE!”

A second user claimed that it’s simply “What happens when you’ve gotten comfortable and you’re not HUNGRY anymore.”

But Normani gave a fierce response on Aug. 9, tweeting back at the user to “just shut the f–k up.”

Some fans also came to Normani’s defense, with fashion illustrator Hayden Williams gave some insight into what the 26-year-old might be going through. “It’s so interesting that people that have no clue what it’s like to be in the music industry & the complexities that can come with that,” Hayden tweeted, “but will dish out unwanted & rude opinions all the time smh.”

Canal+ is teaming with African streamer Showmax for its latest drama from Africa, an action drama about the dangerous South African motor sport spinning. Production on Spinners began in Cape Town on the eight-part series this week, with Gaia director Jaco Bouwer attached.

Shot in English, Kaaps and Afrikaans, it is produced by Joachim Landau and Raphaël Rocher for French indie Empreinte Digitale and co-produced by Locarno, Amiens and FESPACO winner Ramadan Suleman and his full service film and TV production outfit Natives at Large. Canal+-owned Studiocanal has international distribution rights.

Landau co-created the show with Benjamin Hoffman. Director is Bouwer, whose horror Gaia won the ZEISS Cinematography Award last year at SXSW, and Matthew Jankes, Sean Steinberg, Gillian Breslin, Daniel Zimbler, Byron Abrahams and Zoë Laband comprising the writing team.

The motor sport on which the series is based sees cars driven at high speed with drivers performing stunts in and out of the vehicle.

Spinners‘ synopsis reads: “Ethan is a 17-year-old driver working for a local gang, run with an iron fist by Damien. Trying to support his younger brother but increasingly disgusted with this life and constantly on the edge, Ethan discovers a possible way out via spinning, an intense local sport where he could put his driving skills to use. But the looming gang war jeopardizes that hope.”

Arendsvlei’s Cantona James and Chelsea Thomas have been cast in the lead roles, along with South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) winner Brendon Daniels (Zulu, Skemerdans) and Dillon Windvogel (Blood & Water) also attached. DJ Ready D, a South African hip hop star who co-founded Prophets of the City) is the music supervisor and is composing tracks for the series.

France’s Canal+ has produced 13 original TV dramas out of Africa since 2018, including Invisibles and Agent, and now an ambition to produce 10 per year from the territory.

The Trump Kids Are Furious the FBI Is Treating Their Dad Like Some Kind of Criminal

#Trump #Kids #Furious #FBI #Treating #Dad #Kind #Criminal

By now you’ve likely heard the news that on Monday, the FBI showed up to Donald Trump’s for-profit resort/private residence, Mar-a-Lago, and executed a search warrant. Naturally, the former president was apoplectic about the situation, raging that the place was “under siege,” that the search was akin to Watergate, and that the whole thing was indicative of the U.S. having turned into a “third world” country. (He appeared to be most distressed about the fact that the Feds had looked inside his safe.) Also beside themselves about the event were two of his adult children and their significant others, who fanned out on cable news and social media to decry the fact that, after a lifetime of essentially never facing repercussions for anything, Donald “When you’re a star, they let you do it” Trump seemingly can no longer violate whatever laws he wants with impunity. Which, obviously, is deeply upsetting to them.

On Twitter, Donald Trump Jr. hysterically tweeted: “Biden’s out of control DOJ is ripping this country apart with how they’re openly targeting their political enemies. This is what you see happen in 3rd World Banana Republics!!!” (Actually, Israel indicted its prime minister in 2019 on an array of corruption charges, while France’s former president was sentenced to a year of house arrest in 2021 after being found guilty of illegal campaign financing.) Shortly after, his fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, chimed in, writing: “The FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago is a continuation of the left’s endless & unlawful persecution of President Trump. The failed Biden Regime will do anything to try to distract the American people from the fact that their policies are DESTROYING our nation.”

On Fox News, Eric Trump whined to Sean Hannity, “Sean, my father never got so much as a speeding ticket in his life, you know, until he made one decision, and that’s to go down the escalators of Mar-a-Lago and spend a lot of money and go and actually fight for this country for the first time, and he did a better job than anybody has ever done. And they started coming after him.” Which, to be clear, is not the same thing as never having committed any crimes or broken any laws; it just means that Eric’s dad was previously able to get away with everything, like, for example, committing “outright fraud” in the 1990s, according to The New York Times; scamming students at his fake university, for which he would later pay a $25 million settlement; and using his charity as a political slush fund, which is why the thing was shut down, Trump was ordered to fork over $2 million, and Eric, Don Jr., and Ivanka Trump, as directors of the foundation, were ordered to take remedial classes to learn how to not rip off the needy.

Anyway, Eric continued: “The Washington Post, the day he won, 2016, the day he won, November 8, that night they wrote an article: This is when impeachment begins,” the younger Trump said. “He wasn’t president. He hadn’t been elected for, you know, five minutes at that point. And they start: This is when impeachment begins. And then he’s impeached the first time, and then he was impeached the second time. They slandered him and they belittled him. They went after them, they went after all of us.” Of course, Trump was impeached “the first time” because he tried to extort Ukraine and get its president to dig up dirt on his political rival. He was impeached “the second time” because he incited a violent riot—which left multiple people dead—in an attempt to overturn the results of a free and fair election. But Eric wasn’t finished.

“There’s no family in American history that has taken more arrows in the back than the Trump family, every single time,” the former first son insisted, apparently forgetting that two Kennedys were literally assassinated. “All they want to do is they want to get Donald Trump…and they do it for one reason: because they don’t want Donald Trump to run and win again in 2024.… To have 30 FBI agents, actually more than that, descend on Mar-a-Lago, give absolutely no notice, go through the gates, start ransacking an office, ransacking a closet. You know, they broke into a safe—he didn’t even have anything in the safe. I mean, give me a break. And this is coming from what? The National Archives? Yet, you know, Hunter Biden, he did firearms crimes, prostitution, illegal drugs, shady deals with everybody around the world—and by the way, it’s all on his laptop for the whole world to see, in his own writing, in his own words, corroborated by everybody. Where are these FBI agents? Where is everybody? Why is it that the arrows only fly at Donald Trump and his family? Why is it that the political persecution only goes one way in this country?”
