John Hersey Defends Ex Katie Thurston Against Haters Post Split

Showing his loyalty! John Hersey still supports ex-girlfriend Katie Thurston — and will defend her against the haters!

After an internet troll blamed Thurston, 31, for not being able to “get a guy,” Hersey, 28, quickly jumped in to defend the former Bachelorette’s honor.

“You will speak a finite number of words throughout your life. I urge you to speak more kindly. Especially about someone you don’t know,” the bartender quipped in response to the comment on Tuesday, June 21. “I have never been so supported or unconditionally loved by a partner. Assuming and implying that Katie is doing anything wrong does not sit right with me.”

Hersey concluded his clap back with a general plea, saying, “The internet can be a mean place  — let’s not add to it.”

Thurston first hinted at her breakup with Hersey on Monday, June 20. “Statement: No, we aren’t together,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories at the time. Hersey confirmed the two had called it quits the next day.

“I love being able to share special moments with you all — the funny ones. The happy ones. The outrageous, embarrassing, and heartfelt ones. But I don’t know if it will ever get easier to share the sad ones. As Katie stated earlier, we are no longer dating,” Hersey said on Tuesday via his Instagram Stories. “This decision was not made lightly, and it was obviously not an easy one to make.”

He concluded: “I appreciate every one of you that has supported us throughout this journey. We could not (and would not) be here without you.”

Thurston initially sent Hersey home on week two of The Bachelorette season 17, getting engaged to Blake Moynes instead. The two split in October 2021, only three months after the show finished airing. At the time, Moynes, 31, implied that Thurston emotionally cheated on him Hersey during a November 2021 episode of the “Talking It Out With Bachelor Nation” podcast.

“I really don’t think there was any physical cheating there,” he revealed at the time. “But there [was] clearly emotional [cheating] for it to transition as quickly as it did. I feel stupid and foolish for allowing it to happen, to some degree.”

Thurston, for her part, denied there was any overlap between the two relationships.

“We both knew our relationship was not working out,” the former bank marketing manager told Kaitlin Bristowe of her ex-fiancé’s reaction. “My relationship with Blake was a very separate situation [from] my relationship with John. There was not overlap. There was nothing but respect. It’s just two different situations.”

Hersey also came to the Washington native’s defense at the time, claiming that Moynes was “capitalizing” off the broken engagement.

“I watched how much effort she put into that relationship while it was falling apart. And what really pissed me off about that, like, listening to that podcast was when there started to be a narrative get painted that she was putting no effort in, and Blake was the only one putting effort in at the end,” he during a March appearance on the “Off the Vine” podcast. “And furthermore, that in that time, where she was ‘absent,’ that she was somehow emotionally cheating with me. … It just pissed me off.”

Exclusive: Marvel Announces Return to Its Ancestral Marketing Realm: San Diego Comic-Con –

Marvel Announces Return to Its Ancestral Marketing Realm: San Diego Comic-Con

#Marvel #Announces #Return #Ancestral #Marketing #Realm #San #Diego #ComicCon

Marvel Studio’s President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige had a giant size surprise for con-going fans on Friday. During a virtual press conference for Thor: Love and Thunder, in theaters July 8, he announced that it will be Assemble! once more at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con. The big event runs from Wednesday, July 20 (preview night!) through Sunday, July 24 (hangover day!)

This is a much-needed boost for the annual “celebration of the popular arts” in the Southern California city’s Gaslamp Quarter. The July event, which attracts over 130,000 unaware marketing rubes enthusiastic fans on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, shifted to “Comic-Con@Home” the last two years thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a slimmed-down version taking place over Thanksgiving weekend. While studios and networks still got their sales pitches out, it lacked the same oomph from the days when celebrities appeared before thousands of cosplaying summertime nerds living for five days on Red Bull and convention center hot dogs.

The rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is weaved into the fabric of the annual event, ever since the first Iron Man panel in 2007. The company has produced several exclusive sizzle reels just for the attendees, and there have been no shortage of stunts, like the first “Mercury 7”-esque reveal of the Avengers cast (“I’ve had a dream all my life and it was not this good” wept Joss Whedon), Robert Downey Jr. dancing through the aisles, and Natalie Portman shocking everyone in 2019 to hold Thor’s hammer. Every year, Marvel’s panel at the San Diego Convention Center’s Hall H (capacity: 6,500) would get a primo Saturday night slot, and conquer the social media buzz.

But that 2019 appearance was actually Marvel’s last appearance at the show. The company declined to involve themselves in the two virtual events and last year’s autumn quickie. Considering Marvel’s parent company, Disney, has a pep rally all their own (the D23 Expo) one might have suspected that the House of Ideas and SDCC had split for good.

But what would the MCU (or comics in general) be without surprises?

What and who specifically will make its way to San Diego this year is currently unknown. Ryan Coogler‘s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is likely to dominate the conversation, as the sequel to the Best Picture nominee will be out in theaters this November. (A first look at Namor the Submariner is worth waiting on a long line.) The third Ant-Man picture (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) is out in February, so no doubt has enough material ready to pull together and wow the fans. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 isn’t out until next May, but director James Gunn and this band of misfits know how to keep people entertained. Also, don’t be surprised to at least see some official images of Mahershala Ali as Blade. Lastly, the smart bet (and the thing that will surely make social media explode) is to expect a casting announcement for the next iteration of the Fantastic Four. (Is John Kraskinski in as Reed Richards? Or was that just some Multiverse trickery in Doctor Strange?)

As the differences between movies and streaming shows get flattened in the MCU, the panel will also surely highlight what’s coming to Disney +, including She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the WandaVision spin-off Agatha: House of Harkness, Armor Wars (will Stilt-Man be in attendance?!?), and the kid-friendly I Am Groot animated series that debuts in early August.

And then there’s this: Marvel always does the unexpected. Is Galactus coming? And if so, will he be hungry? Somebody save one of those gross hot dogs for the Devourer of Worlds.

Exclusive: BBC Presenter Is Slammed For Using Phrase ‘Pro-Life’ In Discussion On Supreme Court Abortion Ruling –

BBC Presenter Is Slammed For Using Phrase ‘Pro-Life’ In Discussion On Supreme Court Abortion Ruling

The BBC has been pulled into the controversy following the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade, after one of its news presenters used a controversial term on air.

Today presenter Amol Rajan used the term “pro-life” twice on air to describe anti-abortion campaigners.

During the flagship BBC radio news programme, Rajan eschewed the BBC News style guide which advises journalists to use the term “anti-abortion rather than pro-life” in a discussion about the ruling’s repercussions, and used the latter description in a discussion with the BBC’s North America editor Sarah Smith:

“As you say, Sarah, this is not the end but the end of the beginning. Because for the pro-life groups, for the pro-life coalition, who have been campaigning for this for many, many years, since Roe v Wade actually, they’re very ambitious, aren’t they, there’s a lot more that they want to achieve.”

The second time came during an interview with a North Dakota-based clinician, when he said: “The argument from the pro-life organisations is that life is life.”

Hannah Barham-Brown deputy leader of the UK’s Women’s Equality Party, told the Guardian newspaper the use of “pro-life” was disappointing: “Anti-choice campaigners have long tried to hide behind the facade of being ‘pro-life’ when the reality is that they are anything but – they are really trying to restrict women’s freedoms.”

This criticism comes just a day after another BBC presenter, Sophie Long who fronts Radio 4’s The World Tonight, was criticised for using the phrase “pregnant people” during her programme’s coverage of the Supreme Court ruling, and the enactment in Arkansas of a near-total ban on terminations.

Long was quoting the National Abortion Federation when she reported them saying, “Knowing how many women and pregnant people would now not be able to get care was “devastating.”

The BBC later amended the report on its website.
