For someone who is as influential and talented as Jennifer Lopez, it is a rather simple thing to have a part of her life’s story being told to the entire world through a work of art. A singer, actress, dancer, and now a global entrepreneur and humanitarian; JLo is a lot of things. However, there is an entirely new side of her that we got to know about, thanks to the recent release of the Jennifer Lopez documentary, Halftime.
It is rather surprising to see someone who is as powerful and confident as JLo was nervous about the release of the documentary. But, as it turns out that is exactly what happened before this new film. Here is how the “Let’s Get Loud” singer reacted to her documentary.
Jennifer Lopez was extremely nervous about her documentary, Halftime
What was at first considered to be a “run and gun” documentary for JLo’s 50th birthday turned out to be an entirely different thing in the end. According to Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, “Benny Medina saw there was a larger story to tell“. It was at that time when Oscar- and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Amanda Micheli got her hands on “hundreds and hundreds of hours of archival footage and personal footage”. It was all done to find a story about JLo that needed to be told.
The product at the end was a beautiful story that celebrated women at halftime. However, as per Goldsmith-Thomas, “Jennifer was extremely trepidatious and said to us more than a hundred times, ‘This may not see the light of day“. Halftime begins with a shot of Jennifer blowing candles on her 50th birthday, signifying that there is much more of her life’s story that is to be written and explored.
